Our Story

My name is Joseph, I was born on the Central Coast of Australia in 1995. Growing up I was always interested in borrowing dads video camera to make short home movies. Whenever family friends came over we would all devise a story and begin filming on the spot. These projects were always fun to film although they never made it to editing.

In 2013 my interest in film was rekindled and I received a video camera for my 18th birthday. For Christmas I got a shotgun microphone to use whilst filming and a boom pole to hold it in. My first video projects were Christmas videos of the family getting together. Everyone was pleased with the result.

Getting a copy of Sony Vegas Pro I was interested in special effects. To test them out I literally filmed myself in the back yard waving a small stick around, the neighbors must have thought I was crazy(er). When I got that film to Sony Vegas I added sound and effects to change the story from some kid waving a stick around to a young man practicing magic. This was my first short video upload entitled "You're a Wizard Joe".

Later those school holidays I was given a random challenge by a friend to create the end of the world in my neighborhood. I took some simple shots up and down my street which on their own looked like nice scenery shots. But once editing began the color scheme became more red, there was more shaking, more fire! I had created the apocalypse in my own street. I accordingly named the video "Street Apocalypse".

Before uploading this I quickly filmed a video of myself sitting in front of the TV, and then kicking the chair back so that I would fall over. With some speed tricks and special effects I was able to make it look like I had been blown away by an explosion that emerged from the TV, this became my first visual intro.

Now that I had two videos on my channel I decided I needed a trailer for unsubscribed viewers. I wrote my first script to make a channel trailer that would present what I could do with Sony Vegas Pro. Once again I was out the back swinging insignificant sticks around, only to turn it into lightsaber and magic action in editing. The trailer, titled "Studio of Joe" was uploaded and gave a good idea of my skills at the time.

One night at around 11pm I noticed that I had not once yet use my green screen, in an attempt to familiarise myself with setting it up and using it correctly, I set it up at 11:30, filmed my face against the green screen for a few moments, and by 1am I had a fiery backdrop and some CGI made with the animation software Blender. The following morning I put this all together with some old music I had composed and created a video that you will all know as 'Fire Face'. This film was yet another experimentation of my skills in editing and animating special effects.
