For those of you who keep updated with my blog, you will know that I am currently attending a four month fiom school. As part of this course everyone who felt up to the task had to write a script based off a basic story idea that was brainstormed by the class. I wrote one of four scripts that were submitted and based on quality, length, budget and locations, my script was selected!
As a result the remainder of the course will be making a short ten minute or so film based on the screenplay that I have written! However I need to give credit where it is due, The basic concept for the idea was not my ideas, through brainstorming in three groups the idea that myself and a fellow classmate devised came second for prefered storyline, so while the original idea is not mine, the more specific specifications behind the story are. I hope to keep you posted on the going on of the Four Month Film School and of other projects that I am working on.

Learning Loads at 4 Month Film School!
Already, after 4 lessons in Australian Film Base's 4 month film school I have learnt more than I could have ever hoped to by teaching myself through trial and error. Just recently they upgraded their arsenal to inhabit a Black Magic Cinema Camera, that can shoot up to 4k! a better film quality than what is broadcasted in an average cinema!
I have learnt so much about script formatting, casting, different shots, equipment and I've only had 4 lessons! only 1 month of 4 have passed and I feel like I have learnt enough to improve on what I am doing now!

Fire Face
Last night I tested out my green screen for the first time! combined with free stock footage, CGI made with Blender and an old music piece I composed last year in Garageband, I created a video where my face appears in a fire pit. This idea is much inspired by Padfoot's face appearing in the Gryffindor Common Rooms fireplace the second time, although I have not been able to replicate the effect, I now have a little more experience with greenscreen. Check out the video here.

First Screenplay Ever!
After fiddling around with different ideas I have completed my first ever properly formatted screenplay! I actually enjoyed writing it very much and I hope the rest of the film process is as fun! the new project is called 'Copied' and is about a scientist who invents a cloning machine that goes wrong! I'll leave you with that and tell you that I have the perfect number of interested actors to fill the roles, all I need to do is figure out which person gets which role. Hopefully filming will commence over the next couple of weeks :) stay tuned for more updates about this project! :D

Trelby
Trelby is a free screenplay formatting program, with it you can format a script in a professional manner. It's very similar to Celtx but completely, legally free, weather you're a student r not, no monthly subscription is required. I used this program to write a screenplay for my upcoming project, and it was easy to use and made a great looking script. So if you are interested in writing professionally formatted scripts check out Trelby.

Indie Filmmakers Guild
On the 26th of April just before I went to bed I created a Facebook page called the Indie Filmmakers Guild. The aim of the page was to create a community for indie film developers like myself, to have a page where anyone could submit their film and have it posted for a large audience. The thought was that eventually I'd have a large amount of people wanting films advertised, this more likes, thus more people to advertise to.
I straight away got 2 friends, Tim and Kyle to help me manage the page. I went to bed when the like count was at 5, 2 of them being friends, the rest being friends of friends. I was talking to Tim before I went to bed about potential sources of pre made films that we could advertise just so that viewers would not find an empty page and lose interest, this discussion however became irrelevant when I woke up.
35 being the most amount of likes I have ever received on a page, I was astounded to wake up to 68 likes and 5 video submissions! by the end of that day we had reached 120 likes! Here we are 3 days later with the likes count at 170 and about 20 video posted. If you're an indie film maker who wants more publicity, click on the link and submit your video, assuming they follow the terms and conditions they will be posted by us crediting your name, your channel or your facebook page, along with a short description of the story and a video link :)

Accepted into 4 Month Film School!
After researching part time film courses I stumbled across this 4 month film school which takes place on selected Saturdays, Sundays and Tuesday afternoons over (you wont believe this!) four months! This course will take me and 13 other lucky people through the process of making a film from writing, casting, editing and best of all we will rotate through roles of a camera crew and by the end of the course we will have a full short film! I will still be making videos on top of this but hopefully you will see the difference as I learn new skills :) If you'd like to read more about this course click here.
